Baripada, July 31:

In a sensational incident, a nephew hacked to death his uncle and aunt over a small altercation in Susua village under Baisinga police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district early this morning, reports said.

Police sources said the accused, identified as Sushil Marandi, hacked his paternal uncle (father’s younger brother) and aunt around 7.30 am this morning with an axe over an old dispute over ownership of a piece of family land. The couple was working in their fields at the time of the incident, police added.

Police said the accused, who surrendered at the Baisinga police station with the axe used in the killing, has confessed to the crime. Two more persons have been detained in the case, police said.

While the SDPO and other seniors officials have reached the spot, the bodies have been seized by the police and arrangements were being made for autopsy to be conducted on the bodies, police said.
