Bhubaneswar, Nov 4:
A two-member team of the National Commission for Women (NCW) would visit the state towards the end of the week to probe the tragic death of Itishree Pradhan, a lady teacher of Tikiri Upper Primary School in Koraput district, who died of severe burn injuries on November 1 five days after being set afire by an unknown miscreant.
The two-member team of NCW, led by Manasi Pradhan, would arrive in the state for investigation, official sources said.
The shocking incident took place on the night on October 27 when an unidentified person barged into the school hostel room of the lady teacher and set her on fire after pouring kerosene on her body.
She was later rushed to Seven Hills hospital at Visakhapatnam where she succumbed to her injuries on November 1.
Meanwhile, acting on the directive of the state government, the Crime Branch has begun investigation into the incident.
