New Delhi, Dec 17 :
The National Commission for Women ( NCW) on Tuesday recommended a CBI probe into the death of Tikiri school teacher Itishree Pradhan who died after being set on fire by an unknown person on November 14.
The NCW chairperson Mamata Sharma told reporters here today that the Commission had made the recommendation because it was unhappy with the probe conducted by the state Crime Branch so far.
” The Crime Branch has not made any progress so far. It has failed to identify and nab the person who had set the lady teacher on fire even after so many days,” Sharma said.
The Commission has sent a notice to the Chief Secretary, Odisha seeking the submission of the action taken report (ATR) in the matter within seven days, sources in the NCW said.
