Bargarh: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today took a potshot at two Central Ministers from Odisha alleging non-cooperation over farmers’ issues in the State.

Addressing an election rally in Atabira of Bargarh district today, Patnaik said the Centre had promised to double the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy but it failed to fulfil the same.

He said, “After waiting for two years, a delegation of Ministers along with farmer leaders went to Delhi to press for the demand. But, the BJP-led Government at the Centre did not have time for a discussion with the Odisha.”

“Moreover, two Odia Ministers are there in the Union cabinet. But unfortunately, both of them kept mum over the issue,” Patnaik stated.

The BJD Chief reiterated his allegation that the BJP is conspiring to stop disbursal of monetary assistance to farmers under the KALIA scheme.

“No one can stop KALIA till i am alive,” he restated.

The CM further targeted the Centre alleging that he has requested the latter umpteen times for inclusion of Kosali language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, but nothing has been done in this regard yet. He further alleged that the he had demanded exemption of GST on handloom and handicraft products, but to no avail.

After addressing the gathering, Patnaik left for Bolangir to campaign for party candidates in the town.
