The main objective of the ‘National Youth Day’ celebration was to spread the ideas of Swami Vivekananda among the youth of the country and to make a better future of the country by motivating them through the life and ideas of Swami Vivekananda.

Inaugurated by Odisha School & Mass Education Minister and Junior Red Cross Working Committee Chairman Debi Prasad Mishra, more than 500 youth Red Cross volunteers, counsellors from 22 different colleges of Bhubaneswar and life members of Red Cross joined hands to celebrate the day.

“Vivekananda is known as the man behind modern Indian culture. He is one of the great Indian citizens who took the message of Indian culture abroad and made the world believe that Indian culture has a great history and it will always be better than western culture,” said  Minister Mishra addressing the gathering.

A signature campaign was conducted on the spot and cultural programmes were performed by the volunteers of Youth Red Cross from different colleges on the occasion.

At 11 A.M a human chain was organized in front of the Red Cross Bhavan of Bhubaneswar to raise awareness about the importance of youth civic engagement and its benefits to the individual and to society. Besides, debate & essay competitions were organized and prizes were distributed to the winners.
