New Delhi, Jan 2:
The Indian government on Saturday decided to organise the National School Games “in a big way” at 4-5 venues across the country every year.
“The objective is to ensure proper promotion and development of various games at the school level with the twin objectives of early identification of talent and ensuring physical fitness of children,” said a government statement.
To organise and conduct the games, the Department of Sports will join hands with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and the selected state governments for infrastructure.
Kerala has been proposed to host the event in January. A request received in this regard from Kerala has been accepted by the central government. (IANS)
