As per the financial results taken on record at a meeting held in New Delhi, public sector aluminium major National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) has registered a net profit of Rs 160 crore for the 1st quarter of 2013-14 fiscal ended June 2013.
However, there was some decline in profit as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal due to lower international price, a release by the company here has said.
On the production front, while bauxite output during the quarter increased to 14.63 lakh tonnes against 11.42 lakh tonnes in the corresponding quarter last year, alumina production went up to 4.82 lakh tonnes against 4.76 lakh tonnes during the comparable quarter of the previous fiscal.
Power generation was at 1,327 million units against 1,614 million units and aluminium production was 0.85 lakh tonnes against 1.03 lakh tonnes achieved in the 1st quarter of the previous fiscal.
The total alumina sale during the quarter was at 2.83 lakh tonnes against 2.53 lakh tonnes in the 1st quarter of the previous fiscal.
As regards metal sales, 0.85 lakh tonnes was sold during the quarter against 1.02 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, the release added.
