Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD Nalco, has been elected as president of the Aluminium Association of India (AAI),in Bhubaneswar, Odisha yesterday.
Chand was unanimously elected to head the association at the National Governing Council Meeting of the AAI held in the Odisha capital on Tuesday. Aluminium Association of India represents the entire Indian aluminium industry and is a part of the world association.
Earlier, the post of president was held by S. K. Roongta, former chairman of SAIL and Vedanta Group.
The AAI announced that the next International Conference on Aluminium (INCAL) shall be organized in Bhubaneswar, where all associations from abroad will also take part. The theme of the event will be ‘Make in India : Aluminium the Strategic Metal’.
Nalco, N.R. Mohanty, Director (P&T) and A.K. Murthy, General Manager (Port Facilities) have also been elected as Vice-President and Joint Secretary of AAI respectively.
