Strongly refuting the charge of ‘high-handedness’, made by former minister Golak Naik against the leadership while announcing his resignation from the BJP earlier in the day, state unit president of the party Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo on Saturday said Naik had been given plenty of opportunities while he was in the party.
“Naik had been granted everything he had wanted. He had been made a minister twice, which has gone a long way in the strengthening his political base. In the last election, he wanted to contest from Baripada and was readily given the ticket. This time, he wanted a ticket from Udala, which had already been promised to him,” Singhdeo said.
“If someone betrays the party after all this, what can one say?” he quipped
