Koraput, Dec 23:

In yet another barbaric act by the Maoists, a person was shot dead by the red rebels at Munuguluwalsa village under Pottangi police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district late last night.

The deceased was identified as  G. Apparao, husband of Talagoluru Gram Panchayat’s Naib Sarpanch.

According to reports, a group of 10-15 Maoists called Apparao out of his home and had an exchange of words with him following which they fired at him killing him on the spot.

The Maoists also torched two tractors and one van of Apparao before leaving the spot.

Though the reason behind the killing was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the Maoists might have targeted Apparao for being a police informer.
