Bhubaneswar, June 16:
Mystery continues to surround the sudden disappearance of Odisha based IT professional even after he returned home safe and sound on Sunday.
Manab Patnaik, the IT professional employed with the Odisha unit of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who went missing on June 9, has been keeping silent since his return home yesterday, his family said.
“Ever since his return, my son has kept silent. We are afraid of asking him any question about the reason for his disappearance,” Manab’s father Kambupani Patnaik told OST today.
“We are not allowing any media persons and policemen to meet him as our family doctor Indramani Jena, after checking his health conditions, has advised complete bed rest for 48 hours to my son,” the senior Patnaik said.
Asked how Manab returned home, Patnaik said; “A distant relative saw my son at a bus stand in Kolkata on Saturday and immediately contacted us. On our request, he later put Manab in a Kolkata-Bhubaneswar bus named Dolphin on Sunday.” He, however, said he had no clue how his son reached Kolkata.
The retired income tax officer revealed that almost all his son’s belongings were found missing on his return. “My son had left home with Rs 700 in his purse, a gold chain, a gold ring and TCS’s identity card. But all his valuables, purse and identity cards were not found on him when he returned,” he said.
Even the police have no clues as to why Manab went missing in the first place. “The reason for his sudden disappearance would be known after we quiz him,” an officer of the Infocity police station here told OST.
Manab, who lives with his family at Prashanti Vihar under the Infocity police limits, had gone missing on June 9 on his way to office.
