Bhubaneswar: Around a month before the General Elections, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi today resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Majhi quit the BJD alleging that he was ignored in intra-party matters. “I was being ignored in the party during discussions and meetings, for which I have resigned. I handed over my resignation letter to the political secretary of BJD president Naveen Patnaik,” he said.
“I was kept out of discussions and deliberations in the organisation. Visit by party functionaries to my area were either not intimated or informed at the last moment. For this reason, I could not attend some of the meetings, including official meetings which hampered not only me but also the development of the people of the area,” Majhi wrote in his resignation letter.
Speaking about his future political move, Majhi said he is yet to take any decision in this regard. “I had come to politics to serve people and I am with them,” he added.
Majhi had successfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections from Nabarangpur parliamentary constituency by defeating Congress’ Pradeep Majhi.
