Puri, Mar 15:
Devotees who had gathered in the Lord Jagannath Mandir in Puri to partake Mahaprasad yesterday literally smelled a rat here!
Visitors to the temple on Monday allegedly found a dead mouse in a dish of rice, part of the Mahaprasad, the 64 dishes offered to the Lord Jagannath and later served to the devotees.
The incident happened in Nirmalaya Khola, a place where the devotees eat their prasad after buying it from Anand Bazar inside the temple .
Yesterday was a Sankranti, an auspicious day in Hindu calendar when devotees prefer to partake the Sri Mandir mahaprasad.
But, devotees eating their food in the Nirmalaya Khola were in for an unpleasant surprise after a dead mouse was dished out from a dish in a banana leaf , according to Sambad.
Sri Mandir administration has agreed that they have received such a complaint.
We are going to investigate the truth into the allegation. Rather than hearsay the real truth behind the incident will be found. If there is any truth in this allegation then the reason about how the mouse reached the prasad will be found and strict action will be taken against the culprit, the temple administration has said.
