Bhubaneswar, Jun 5:
The Odisha government has decided to construct more hostels for the Scheduled Caste (SC) students at the High School and College level in the state.
This was announced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik while presiding over a meeting of the Scheduled Caste Welfare Advisory Board at the State Secretariat here today.
He said the state government has so far approved construction of 55 hostels in the 11 Scheduled Caste dominated districts.
In view of the proposal for increase in the seats for SC students in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) hostels by the Board members, Patnaik asked the SC and SC Development department to make efforts to increase SC seats in these hostels without reducing the number of the seats for the ST students and prepare a road map for its implementation.
