The nursing students on a rampage, breaking window panes and flower vase. Before the situation could go out of hand, Mancheswar police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control arrested the accused pharmacist Santosh Kumar Hazari, whohails from Nayagarh district.

Though the incident of alleged molestation took place on Saturday, the victim lodged a complaint with the Mancheswar police today.

After failing to get their demands addressed by the college authorities and the police, the students gathered in a large number and entered the campus protesting the inaction of the former.

The victim, a native of West Bengal, alleged that the incident took place on Saturday while she was doing her duty in the operation theatre.

“He asked me whether I have a boyfriend. I told him that it was my personal matter. Later he pressurized me to say whether I have a boyfriend and when I did not listen to him, he told me to give medicine to a patient. Later when I turned back, he molested me,” alleged the victim.

The students alleged that the hospital authorities did not pay any attention to their allegation when they informed them about the matter immediately after the incident happened.

“The college authorities did not pay any attention to the allegation of the victim. They did not even allow us to lodge a complaint with the police,” alleged a student requesting anonymity.

“Hazari was arrested under section 354-A (sexual harassment) of Indian Penal code,” said Himanshu Bhusan Swain, Inspector-in-charge of Mancheswar police station.
