Bhubaneswar, Jun 26:
Police suspect the hand of a mason in the alleged abduction of Odisha women’s rugby player Sujata Pradhan, who has gone missing since May 18 this year.
The cops raided the native village of Prabhat, the mason suspected to be involved in the case, in Nayagarh’s Khandapara area, but did not find the couple and had to come back empty-handed.
But they are still trying to ascertain the whereabouts of the missing mason working at her home, who they suspect to be having an affair with the girl.
“The cops still suspect Prabhat as his cell phone is switched off and he is nowhere to be seen since Sujata went missing. We have also asked for the call details of Sujata’s phone and are investigating the incident from all possible angles,” said Deputy Commissionerate Police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi.
“Given thar she was a state level player, we are not ruling out the possibility of her going out of state with Prabhat. We are planning to question her friends out of state. Soon, we are going to send three team to Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal to investigate the matter further,” he added.
Sujata, who belongs to Padasahi village under Nandankanan police station, went missing on May 18. The incident came to fore after her father Kailash Pradhan lodged a complaint in local police station last Tuesday.
