Cuttack: Unidentified miscreants hurled crude bombs at a Police Control Room (PCR) van at Kurunti village under Cuttack Sadar Police limits in the district late last night.

A home guard, identified as Kedarnath Samal, sustained injuries on head in the incident and was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here. His condition is stated to be stable.

As per reports, a police team had reached the village last night after being informed about an extortion as some miscreants were threatening a contractor to give them Rs 1 lakh.

Realising arrival of police at the spot, the wrongdoers hurled bombs at the PCR van. Acting on a complaint lodged by the contractor, police have detained two suspects. Investigation into the matter is underway.
