Dhenkanal, Jan 26:
A 10-year-old girl has been allegedly raped and murdered in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
The gruesome incident, which came to light yesterday, has created resentment among the locals at Kansargoda village in Baruan Panchayat under Bhuban block in the district.
On Sunday night, the 10-year-old had gone to her neighbour’s house to watch television, but did not return home. Family members searched everywhere, but failed to find her.
In the morning, when some village women went to the field for their morning ablutions they found the body of the minor girl bearing injury marks. She has probably been strangled with her frock, according to reports.
The police have detained one person for questioning in the matter.
Meanwhile, the furore over the recent alleged rape of a nine-year-old girl, after abducting her from her home at night, in Jatni has taken a political colour with the Odisha unit of BJP organising block-level demonstrations across the state protesting against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
