A 10-year-old minor boy was rescued from Bhubaneswar Railway Station by Childline, a city-based NGO here on Tuesday.
The boy, with his slashed tongue, was forced into begging by his master who is said to be from Khordha Road area.
Talking to the newsmen, the rescued minor boy said his master has employed around 20 minors and engaged them to collect alms from the passengers inside the train between Khordha Road and Bhubaneswar Railway Station.
“The master has made some minor boys dumb by cutting their tongue while some others have been made handicapped to gain sympathy of the commuters”, he said.
The Childline volunteers at the time of rescuing child, found a certificate from his possession in which it was mentioned that his speech is impaired and he is unable to speak. Besides, an appeal is made in the document to help the child financially.
“We would lodge a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) station here today”, said Benudhar Senapati, member of the Childline.
