Bhubaneswar, June 14:
As the rest of Odisha celebrated Pahili Raja with great fervour on Saturday, Dillip Prusty of Bhubaneswar had to perform an unenviable task: taking possession of the body of his 11-year old son, brutally murdered by two sex maniacs, from the morgue at the Capital hospital here.
Dillip, who stays in the sweepers’ basti in Unit VI, broke down and sobbed uncontrollably as he took possession of the body of his son Debendra, who would have been celebrating Raja with his peers had he not fallen into the hands of the two perverts on Thursday.
Twin City commissioner Dr RP Sharma revealed that Debendra had been lured by two youths – Sunil Gochayat (19) and Anil Gochayat (19) – and killed after he resisted their attempt to have unnatural sex with him. When Anil too attempted to do the same, the little boy resisted. Furious at his resistance, the two accused tied him to a pole and strangulated him,” Sharma said.
The commissioner said one of the accused, Sunil, had been arrested and had confessed to having committed the crime. “He was arrested the day after the crime in another case in connection with the theft of motor cycle. He was identified by the father of the deceased boy as one of the two men who had lured his son away when he had come to lodge a missing case about his son on Friday,” he said. Sunil confessed to the crime during the interrogation that followed, he added.
After extracting information from Sunil, Airfield police personnel, along with the scientific team, reached the crime spot and recovered the minor’s body from the bush.
Sunil has now been forwarded to the court while a manhunt had been launched to nab his accomplice in the crime, Anil, the commissioner said.
