Migration of labourers a shame on Odisha, says BJP

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7:

Maintaining that the BJD government in the state has failed miserably to check the growing migration of people outside the state in search of work, the state BJP today said engagement of child labourers and migration of people is a shame on Odisha.

“The BJD government is only concerned about its vote bank politics. While many people are migrating outside in search of work and women trafficking is increasing with each passing day, the state government, which is claiming that Odisha has developed immensely under the incumbent government, has failed to provide job under MNREGS,” said state BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.

Claiming that the government has no data about the migrant labourers, Sharma demanded that details of the migrant labourers be uploaded on the official website of the government.

He also demanded the release of a white paper on the number of child labourers working outside the state and steps to bring them back and provide better facilities.

Stating that the labourers are committing suicide after failing to repay their debts, he said the insensitive government has not taken any developmental steps for them and engage them in work to check migration.
