Daringbadi: Odisha shivered under intense cold wave with the mercury dropped in many parts especially in interior region in Kandhamal district on Sunday night.
The temperature in Daringbadi, which is widely known as “Kashmir of Odisha”, plunged to 9 degree Celsius.
Following the continuous rains in most parts of the state due to low pressure two weeks ago, winter arrived in the hill station since Nov 23.
According to block weather forecast centre, the minimum temperature in the area was recorded 14 degree Celsius on Nov 23, 12.5 degree Celsius on 24, 9.5 degree Celsius on 25, the hill station recorded 9 degree Celsius on Sunday.
The weather remained sunny during day time, but the mercury went down in the evening.
Normal life was affected in the morning after the region came under grip of cold. The bus passengers travelling to several locations including Phulbani, Baliguda, Bhanjanagar and Berhampur from Daringbadi faced difficulties.
The MeT predicted that the temperature will be dropped in next two days in interior Odisha attracting a number of tourists to visit the hill stations during the winter.
