Official sources said the reason for the termination of jobs was that these employees had not vacated the land in lieu of which they were given jobs as per the terms of appointment.

A Coal India official said that The 126 employees were given appointments as compensation for the loss of their land due to coal mining but they violated the terms and conditions of their appointment.

“Even after giving them jobs they were unwilling to vacate their lands. As a result, disciplinary action had to be taken against them,” he said

Sources said these employees who were given jobs in the Talcher coal fields of MCL had been served with final notice in November 2013 to either part with their land or face action.
