Bhubaneswar, Aug 12
The State Congress has blamed Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) for the Saturday’s tragic coal dump crash in Sundargarh in which 14 persons were killed.
Briefing newsmen here on Sunday after visiting the spot, senior party leader Kishore Patel expressed grave concern over the callousness of the company. He came down heavily on the MCL authorities for not alerting the people to stay away from the area which had been declared prohibited.
Patel demanded compensation of Rs 30 lakh for each deceased victim’s family, for the injured and action against the company authorities.
Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha member and trade union leader Rama Chandra Khuntia demanded a judicial probe into the coal mine mishap case by a retired judge. He also demanded employment to the deceased’s family members in the MCL.
