Maoists torch pick-up van in Odisha

Nuapada/Koraput, June 19:

A group of armed Maoists set a pick-up van on fire in Odisha’s Nuapada district this morning.

According to reports, a pick-up van from Nuapada carrying food items for the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel at their camp near Sunabeda in Koraput district was intercepted by a group of about 25 armed Maoists at Gadagada ghat inside Sunabeda sanctuary between 8 AM-9 AM.

The ultras asked the driver to get down from the vehicle and then set the vehicle on fire.

Following information, the SOG personnel rushed to the spot.

“Combing operation in the area has been intensified to nab the ultras”, said Nuapada SP Dr Umashankar Das.
