According to reports, a group of about 30 armed Maoists arrived at the camp of a contractor at the village at about midnight and set fire to a JCB machine, a tractor and a mixture machine.

Informing the media today, Pradip Padhi, the contractor, said apart from this, the Red Rebels also damaged another 15 equipment used for construction of roads.

Before leaving the area, the armed Maoists left two posters and threatened the supervisor to leave the area immediately.

“Since there is telecommunication facility in this remote village, I do not know whether the Maoists have attacked my men or not. The incident took place in the presence of the supervisor, mechanics and the local labourers who were present inside the camp”, Padhi said.

He said there was no such incident prior to this incident.

“We have already laid metals on the six km road while the laying of bitumen was scheduled to begin in a couple of days”, Padhi said.

Till reports last came in, the police are yet to reach the spot.
