An exchange of fire took place between Maoists and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel near Lankagarh village under Belaghar police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district today.
As per primary information, there were 20-25 Maoists present at a camp near Lankagarh where the security forces conducted raid.
Huge cache of explosives, bullets and scrapped currency notes were seized from the spot by security personnel.
“SOG jawans started an operation last night after getting information from Intelligence department regarding presence of Maoists on hills near Lankagarh. The Maoists ran helter-skelter after exchange of fire. Search operation in the area is on,” said IG, Southern Range Amitabh Thakur.
