Maoists shoot one dead, seriously injure another in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Oct 5:

In yet another barbaric act, Maoists shot dead a villager and severely injured another in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today.


According to reports, the Red Rebels fired at two villagers of Jantri village in the afternoon today, killing one and seriously injuring another.

Notably, the duo was kidnapped by the Maoists two days back.

More details on the incident are awaited.

It may be mentioned here that thousands of villagers belonging to six panchayats of the district had congregated at Jantri village under Andrapalli panchayat in the cut-off region on Saturday in response to call given by the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zone Committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).

The Reds at the meeting had asked the villagers to boycott panchayat polls and oppose the setting up of the BSF camp, anti-Maoist operations and not to lay down arms
