Malkangiri: A group of Maoists allegedly torched a passenger bus near Mahupadar in Odisha’s Malkangiri district last night.
The bus, which was on the way to Jagyangupr from Mathili in the district, was intercepted by the extremists. The red rebels also forced the passengers to alight from the vehicle.
The Maoists then poured diesel over the bus and set it on fire, besides thrashing the bus driver and conductor. They soon fled the spot after committing the act.
Notably, Maoists are observing ‘Bharat Bandh’ from January 25 to 31 opposing the Central Government’s Samadhan yojana.
