A six member polling party in Malkangiri in Odisha, which was detained by the Maoists on Thursday and released on Friday, delivered a letter written by the ultras to the district collector P K Reddy.
The letter has asked the Odisha government to stop anti-Maoist operations and immediately provide proper education, health, drinking water and other services to people in 151 villages in the cut-off areas under Chitrakonda Assembly seat.
One of the polling officials detained by Maoists said their official and residential addresses were noted down by the extremists before releasing them “They ordered us to deliver their letter to the collector”, he said.
Official sources said no votes were cast in Silakata, Guapali and Kalabeda polling booths in Chitrakonda assembly segment.
