Koraput, Nov 14:

A group of armed Maoists razed an abandoned guest house of a private company in Odisha’s Koraput district late on Thursday night.

According to reports, a group of left wing ultras arrived at Pedapadu village of Talagurulu panchayat under Pottangi block late in the night.

After reaching there, they went to the abandoned guest house of a private company near Ampabali Cement Factory and asked the caretakers to vacate. Later, they razed the guest house with the help of a bulldozer of the company. Before leaving the area, the Maoists left a poster near the place.

Following information, police and a team of paramilitary personnel rushed to the spot. The police suspect the involvement of Maoists of the Srikakulam-Koraput division in the incident.

Sources, however, said that the Maoists have destroyed the guest house apprehending that it would be used as a camp for paramilitary forces.

Combing operation in the area has been intensified following the incident.
