Rayagada, Apr 18:
Police have seized several Maoist posters in Kurli panchayat of Bisamkatak block in Odisha’s Rayagada district.
Sources said in the posters, the Maoist leaders of Bansadhara-Nagavali-Ghumusar Division have strongly protested the efforts of the Odisha government to set up two CRPF base camps at Kalyansinghpur and Bisamkatak blocks.
They have alleged that the state government, in a bid to hand over the Niyamgiri hill to a multi-national company, has decided to deploy the Central forces in the area to provide protection to the company.
Meanwhile, CRPF and the DVF personnel have launched a joint combing operation in Kurli, Khambeshu and Khajura areas of the district to flush out the Red rebels from the area.
It may be mentioned that the CRPF IG (Operation) Piyush Anand, during his visit to Rayagada district headquarters on Tuesday, had discussed anti-Maoist strategy with the CRPF personnel.
Before winding up his tour, Anand had an aerial survey of Chandrapur, Muniguda, Kalyansinghpur and Bisamkatak as possible locations for the two new CRPF base camps in these areas.
