After a week-long lull, the Maoists against unleashed a reign of terror in Odisha’s Malkangiri district with the brutal murder of a tribal late on Sunday night.
According to reports, a group of Maoists had abducted Gurumurty Madhi, a native of Telerai village under Motu police station, 15 days ago.
As told by the brother of the deceased, the Red Rebels shot dead Gurumurty between 12 PM and 2 PM near Telerai Chhak on Sunday.
The villagers found the bullet-ridden body of Gurumurty in the early morning today.
Some Maoist posters were found near the body in which the left wing extremists have said they had killed Gurumurty as he was persuading and encouraging the Maoist sympathisers to abjure violence and return to the mainstream.
Till reports last came in, police are yet to reach the spot.
Police, however, said the body of the deceased would be brought to Kalimela hospital for post mortem after which it would be handed over to the family members.
Panic has gripped the area following the incident.
