Suspected ultras slit the throat of a former sarpanch of Andarapalli in the cut-off region of Malkangiri. The deceased has been identified as Sahadev Badanayak.

As per reports, a group of around 30-40 men stormed into Badanayak’s house in Raba village under Kudumuluguma block. They dragged him out his house and took him with them.

His body was found in a pool of blood with throat slit on the outskirts of the village this morning.

The former panchayat head was in the hit list of Red rebels as he was receiving death threats, sources said.

Hand-written posters were found near the site pointing towards the involvement of ultras in the barbaric act.

Meanwhile, police have begun investigation into the incident.

It may be recalled that suspected Maoists killed the sarpanch of Badapadar gram panchayat under Kudumuluguma block in the district last yesterday night.

Around ten persons barged into the house of Jayaram Khara and killed him in cold blood by slitting his throat.
