Bhawanipatna, Nov 2:

Maoists allegedly killed a former sarpanch by slitting his throat near Sapachanchala under Bijepur police limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district late last night.

The deceased was identified as Jayant Majhi, former sarpanch of Trilochanpur.

According to reports, the red rebels killed Majhi suspecting him to be a police informer.

Notably, Maoists had killed two persons in the district on October 26 over the death of female cadre Sangita in an encounter with policemen at Katlanga reserve forest on October 15.

It is suspected that the Maoists might have killed Majhi over the same matter.
