Maoists issue diktat to villagers to join cadres in Odisha

Malkangiri: In a bid to strengthen the red outfit in tribal belt of Odisha, the Maoists have issued a diktat asking the villagers to join the organisation.

Through posters and letters spotted in Badatekguda area under Kalimela block, the red rebels directed that at least 10 from each village to join the Maoist camps. In violation of the order, the villagers will be awarded death sentence, the Maoists warned.

In the letter it was mentioned that at least 10 people from each village will meet the Maoists and join the organisation at Helkanur hill on October 25.

Besides, the Maoists, who have surrendered before the police, have been asked to return the cadre.

They threatened that the police informers will not be spared at any cost. Similar warning was issued to the surrendered militia and Maoists for leaving the cadre.

Following the letters and posters, the panicked villagers have started leaving the area, sources said.

On the other hand, Malkangiri police said that the combing operation will be intensified in LWE regions of the district.

The area near Helkanur hill where the Maoists’ meeting is scheduled to be held will be sealed and their plans will not be made successful, said Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena.

The diktat was issued after a number of militias belonging to Kalimela Dalam cadre in Malkangiri surrendered before the police in the past few months.

Earlier, there were reports doing the rounds about reshuffle of central committee head and their targets. With the recent diktat, it was clear that the major change in the outfit has taken place.
