Suspected Maoists shot dead a trader late on Thursday night in Dandibadi village under Baipariguda police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district.
Over 50 armed Maoists barged into the house of Bapi Samant, a local businessman late on last night. After looting his shop and ransacking the premises, the Red rebels tied the hands and feet of both Bapi and his wife.
After taking Bapi around the village with his hands and feet tied they shot him dead. The ultras after killing Bapi have left behind some leaflets branding him as a police informer.
They also set fire to a mini truck owned by him before fleeing the area.
“Between 10-11 PM yesterday around 30 Maoists with some locals asked local businessman Bapi Samant to come out of his house. They looted his shop, set fire to his mini truck and 100 mts away from his house shot him dead. They have labeled him as a police informer and have left some leaflets behind. We are investigating the matter,” said V R Rao DSP Koraput briefing reporters.
