Malkangiri, May 1:

Maoists and security forces exchanged fire at Kurub forest under Kalimela block in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, while the red rebels killed a person, identified as Deba Madkami, by slitting his throat at Tamaguda village suspecting him to be a police informer today.

According to police sources, the gunbattle between the Maoists and security forces took place in the forest while District Voluntary Force (DVF) and district police were on a joint combing operation last night.

More details are awaited.

On the other hand, panic gripped Tamaguda village after Madkami’s killing as two persons were killed by the extremists a few days ago at Sudhakanda village under Kalimela block over suspicion of police informers.
