Maoists attack contractor’s camp, set three vehicles on fire

Maoists set three vehicles used for road construction work on fire on late Sunday night near Laxmipur, reports said.Maoist Attack

The vehicles were being used in road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

According to reports, a group of armed Maoists raided the camp of a contractor at Kotinga Karli village in Laxmipur block under Narayanpatna police limits in the late night hours and torched two tippers and one JCB machine before leaving the place.

Following information, the local police and the CRPF personnel have rushed to the spot.

This incident comes two days after left wing extremists set ablaze two tractors and a JCB excavator at a road construction site near Muniguda in the neighbouring Rayagada district

The Maoists have been opposing construction of roads in areas where they have a presence on the ground that it would facilitate movement of police and security forces.
