There have been reports of a Maoist camp in the dense forest in Badasilinga panchayat of Gania block in Nayagarh district.
Asked about the reports, Nayagarh SP Bhagyadhara Behera said the the Special Intelligence unit in the district had no inputs or information on this.
He, however, said that the police are investigating into the veracity of the reports.
According to unconfirmed sources, a group of Maoists from Kandhamal have come via Manibhadra forest and Satkosia sanctuary and are camping at Badasilinga panchayat.
This information has panicked people in this remote panchayat, who had agreed to cast their votes following the intervention of the district collector.
According to official sources, the district administration has planned to deploy more forces in the panchayat presuming the reports to be true.
The reports have also triggered panic across Nayagarh district where the Maoists had attacked the district armoury and wreaked havoc on February 15, 2008 killing 13 persons including 12 policemen.
