A Maoist cadre surrendered before police in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today.

Deva Madhi alias Raghu, the surrendered Maoist, was working as a member of local guerrilla squad of Kalimela Dalam for the last four years.

He was carrying a cash reward of Rs one lakh on his head.

“Raghu was injured in a landmine explosion. He surrendered before police as Maoists were not providing him adequate treatment. He was involved in over ten incidents of violence including Padia block office blast case,” Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said.

Besides, he was allegedly involved in the murder of Tulsiram Bedara, Jaga Madkami, Deva Madkami, Ganga Padiami, Madan Hantala, Gurumurti Madhi, Sama Padiami and Badu Hantala in 2013, police said.

According to reports, the Maoist confessed before police that he has murdered as many as six persons.
