Man sustains injuries as miscreants open fire at him

Cuttack, Oct 22:

A shopkeeper was injured when unidentified persons shot at him inflicting critical injury on his head, in Narsinghpur of Cuttack district in Odisha today.


Sixty-year-old Lochan Behera, a shop owner at the Narsinghpur chowk in the district, was shot by miscreants this morning while he was at his home. A profusely bleeding Behera was rushed to Narsinghpur hospital in a serious condition.

In the morning some miscreants knocked at his door. He was shot at when he opened the window, seriously injuring him near the ear.

“Someone knocked the door in the morning. I opened the window and found no one. But after a few seconds they opened fire and fled,” the injured businessman said.

“I could not idenfity the attackers as they fled after committing the crime,” he added.

The family members are in a state of panic after the attack and claim they have no previous enmity with anybody. “We don’t have enmity with anybody. I do not understand why the miscreants tried to kill him,” Lochan’s wife said.

Meanwhile, police reached the spot and started investigation.
