A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death by his elder brother over alleged business rivalry near Big Bazaar square in Patia under Infocity police station on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Artabandhu Behera, a resident of Sundar village under Astaranga police station in Puri, was staying in Sishu Vihar of Kanan Vihar area in Patia along with his elder brother Krutibash Behera (45) and mother Debaki Behera. The two brothers ran a poultry shop besides Bank of India, Patia Branch.
Following an argument over the poultry business between the two brothers today, Krutibash attacked his younger brother with a knife used for slicing chicken. Even as Artabandhu ran for his life, Krupasindhu reportedly kept stabbing him on his head, chest, face, hand and stomach, eyewitnesses said.
Artabandhu was rushed to a nearby private hospital by the Infocity police, but was declared dead in the hospital, police sources said. His body is now in Capital hospital for autopsy, they said.
Krutibash has been arrested by the Infocity police and is being interrogated about the actual reason for the murder.
The mother of the deceased said there had been several fights in the past between the brothers over pilferage of money earned from the chicken business by Artabandhu.
