Man ‘mistakenly’ murders teacher in Odisha’s Bargarh


Bargarh: In a tragic incident, a person allegedly killed a teacher at Khairapali village under Ambabhona police limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district late last night.

The accused, identified as Nagen Das of Mapali village, surrendered at the police station after hacking Sadhu Charan Pradhan to death.

The deceased, hailing from Saranda village under Attabira police limits in the district, was working as a Cluster Resource Coordinator in Ambabhona.

Nagen has confessed to police that he mistakenly murdered Pradhan while his intention was to kill someone else, reports said.

On the other hand, Sasmita Pradhan, the deceased’s daughter, sustained critical injuries in the attack and was admitted to Bargarh district headquarters hospital for treatment. She was later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla as her condition deteriorated.

Police have started investigation into the incident.
