The body of an old man, killed by a wild elephant on Sunday inside Kulkuta Khosda forest under Bonai forest range in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, was handed over to the family members after post mortem today.
Sources said Madhu Patra (65) of Kulkuta village had gone to Kulkuta Khosda forest on Sunday morning to collect firewood. But as he did not return, his family members had a frantic search but could not trace him.
However, they found the body with a crushed face and multiple injuries on the next day.
The family members later lodged an FIR in Tikayatpali police station.
Following information, a team of forest officials led by Forester Durga Mishra of S Balang section went to the forest this morning and took the body for post mortem.
The body was later handed over to the family members, B Das, Ranger of Bonai Forest Range told OST.
