Man killed in accident in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, July 8:

A 40-year-old  was killed in a road accident near Shani Mandir in Patrapada under Khandagiri police limits this evening.

The deceased was identified as Sambhu Prasad Biswal from Nayagarh district, who runs a grocery shop in Unit-I Haat here,

Police reports said the driver of the Tata Magic (registration number- OD-25-1225) in which Biswal was travelling from Khurda to Bhubaneswar lost control and hit a stranded Haiwa truck from behind near Patrapada. The shop owner died on the spot while the driver managed to escape minor injuries.

The deceased was taking grocery in the auto from Khurda to sell these in his shop, police sources added.

Getting information from the locals, zonal ACP P K Swai,n along with Khandagiri police staff, reached the spot and took the deceased to the Capital Hopital here for autopsy. The police failed to trap the auto driver who was still at large.

Meanwhile, the police have seized the vehicle and registered an accident case in the incident.
