The police finally made a breakthrough in the murder of a 50-year-old tribal of Siriguda village under Nayayanpatna block in Odisha’s Koraput district with the arrest of a neighbour of the deceased today.
According to reports, the police had begun investigation into the murder of Rajeya Sirika on November 6 this year suspecting the involvement of Maoists.
“However, in course of investigation, police suspected the neighbour of the deceased, Gangana Sirika, a 20-year-old tribal who confessed to his crime during interrogation,” said PS Chhotray, IIC of Narayanpatna.
He said the accused killed Rajeya suspecting him of practicing sorcery.
The accused was later produced in the JMFC court at Narayanpatna and sent to the Koraput jail after the court rejected his bail plea.
