Parjang, Sept 6: The local administration on Friday sealed the main gate of Rana Sponge Iron plant at Kulei under Parjang police station in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district following a protest by the locals against the disappearance of a worker, who has gone missing since three days.
According to reports, hundreds of locals, including women, gheraoed the Parjang police station from morning to evening on Friday in protest against the disappearance of Tuna Sahu, a local worker of the plant, since three days.
Accusing the plant authorities of being responsible for Sahu’s disappearance, the irate locals demanded immediate closure of the plant.
Sensing trouble, additional tehsildar Satya Ranjan Panda and a team of Parjang police led by IIC Bamadeb Sankhual, went to the plant and sealed its main gate in the evening.
The police, which had registered cases against eight company officials earlier, has started investigation into the matter after registering fresh cases against the general manager of the company M Sehzad and a staff S Parvez and a local youth Jitu Jena on Friday.
