Paradip, Nov 18:

Industrialist and Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL) owner Mahimananda Mishra today moved the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case pertaining to the murder of Seaways Group General Manager Mahendra Swain.

Mishra has also challenged in the court the lookout circular issued against him, sources said.

OSL’s Executive Director Basant Bal, Operation Manager Subash Acharya and Senior Manager Debi Tripathy also approached the High Court for anticipatory bail, sources added.

Notably, police had issued lookout circular against Mishra and others named in the FIR pertaining to Mahendra Swain’s murder.

Police had also conducted raid on OSL’s office here and sealed the firm’s Bank of India account. This apart, personal accounts of Bal, Acharya and Tripathy were also sealed.

Worth mentioning, Central Range IG Soumendra Priyadarshi had yesterday said that OSL is involved in hatching the murder conspiracy.

It may be recalled here that on October 26 shots were fired at Swain near Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony in Paradip. Two miscreants had hurled crude hand bombs at the SUV in which Swain was travelling. While Swain was fleeing to save himself after alighting from the vehicle, miscreants fired two rounds at him leading to his death.
