Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today claimed that left wing extremism (LWE) has significantly gone down in the state.

“Odisha has achieved remarkable success in controlling Maoist activities. The left wing extremism affected districts have reduced to five from 15. Now our focus is on expeditious implementation of developmental programs in the areas made free of Maoist effect,” said Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy.

Further, he emphasized on development of road connectivity, telecommunication and banking services in the Maoist-infested areas.

Tripathy said this after a high-level meeting on left wing extremism held in conference hall of Lok Seva Bhawan today.

“The work strategy for weeding out Maoists from Odisha would be framed in the national level meeting scheduled to be held on August 26 at New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” he added.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with his counterparts across the country are scheduled to participate in the meeting.
